Ways To Support

There are three ways to support Gateway.

1. Volunteer

You will have to contact us and discuss what involvement you would like and then undergo a criminal records check before you start. We need volunteers who can spend some time with our participants either in the residents or at our main workplace.

2. Financial Support to Gateway

You can financially support Gateway by sending your donation to our main office and you will receive a charitable tax receipt (refer the page attached). The funds are used in the current year to offset costs for capital projects like a participants’ lounge. You can also specifically designate how your donation should be spent.

3. Valley Rehab Foundation

The foundation was formed in 2005 with the help of the Morden and Winkler ACL’s and Gateway Resources. The Board of Directors consists of John Enns, Jocelyn Friesen, Gordon Hoeschen, Corinna Siemens, Henry Siemens, Myrna Hildebrand, Abe Klassen, Bob Derksen.  

Mission Statement

The mission of the foundation is to provide financial assistance to Gateway Resources and to other qualified organizations in the Morden/Winkler and surrounding areas in providing enhanced services to people with intellectual disabilities. Our purpose is to ensure that there will always be funds available to Gateway for future projects.

How Can You Contribute?

There are many ways to give to the foundation.

  • You can simply make a Gift of Money
  • Gifts designated to the Foundation in your will.
    Some individuals designate a percentage of their remaining assets to be given to a named charity, others will designate the charity as one of several people (ie: children) or organizations to receive equal shares in the estate.
  • Gifts in Memory of or in celebration of someone
  • Gifts of Life Insurance Proceeds with the beneficiary listed as the Valley Rehab Foundation
  • Gifts in Kind such as a home or land

When contemplating any of the above ways of supporting the Foundation be sure to discuss your plans with your lawyer, accountant or financial adviser.

Canada Revenue Agency requires donors to be aware that donations to an endowment fund will be held by the Valley Rehab Foundation Inc. in perpetuity for a minimum of 10 years. This means that only income that it generates is to be made available for grants.
