Residential Programs
Medora Bay
In January 1996 the home opened and seven very happy individuals moved in. This new facility affords “A Room of My Own” for seven individuals. The main floor and recreation room are wheelchair accessible. This home has a built-in self-contained training unit for individuals who have aspirations for independent living. All of these individuals work at Gateway Resources.
Over time the need for retirement for individuals became evident. After much planning application was made to Manitoba Family Services for a Retirement Home and Day Program for 20 individuals. This was not approved for funding and licensing because it was seen as another institution. Recommendations were given by Government and ACL Manitoba to come up with a smaller home more integrated/normal retirement.
A joint ACL Winkler/Morden committee was formed. This committee made recommendations to build up to three small retirement homes. The first phase of this joint project was to build one home for four individuals, with a day program geared towards retirement related activities and integration.
