Gateway Resources Inc. provides a recycling program for the City of Winkler and surrounding communities. Within city limits, curbside pickup of household recyclables is set up to co-ordinate with the city garbage collection schedule. We also offer a 24 hour a day / 7 day a week drop-off depot for people outside of the city limits.
The household recyclable materials accepted are as follows: paper, glass (jars and bottles only), cardboard, boxboard, tin cans (soup, ketchup, etc), aluminum beverage cans, milk jugs, milk and juice cartons, and plastics (pop bottle). We do not accept hard plastics such as CD cases, plastic muffin containers, plastic bags, styrofoam or packing material.
Surrounding municipalities bring their recyclable products to Gateway Resources Inc. to be sorted and shipped. This program provides employment for approximately 75 participants and 11 staff. The participants are a valued component of an eco-friendly industry. Approximately 2000 metric tones of recyclables were diverted from landfills in 2008, through their efforts.
As of November 2009, Gateway Resources Inc. has also become an approved E-waste collection site. The hours of operation for E-waste collection are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm. The acceptable E-waste materials are as follows:
